Growing together in the Spirit of Jesus Christ...

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:25 NIV

trout lily...

This spring wildflower goes by many different
(and often used) common names.
I first learned it by the name of dogtooth violet.
But this very common name is perhaps
the common name it should not be known as...
it belongs to the lily family and is not a violet.
Other common names are fawn lily,
trout lily, or yellow trout lily.
If you are familiar with the eastern brook trout...
the mottled leaf of this plant
resembles the pattern on this fish.
Also the whitetail fawn has a similar pattern on its body.
This flower blooms in early spring
here in the northeastern USA.
It probably has other lesser used common names as well.
Google it if you wish to learn more.
It is another of my favorite spring wildflowers.
So ends your bio lesson for today!
I am looking forward to taking walks
with Jesus and have Him
teach me so much more
about God's wonderful creation.
