life with meaning...

life with meaning

"Remember to be gentle with yourself and others.
We are all children of chance
and none can say why some fields will blossom
while others lay brown beneath the August sun.
Care for those around you.
Look past your differences.
Their dreams are no less than yours,
their choices no more easily made.
And give, give in any way you can,
of whatever you possess.
To give is to love. To withhold is to wither.
Care less for your harvest
than for how it is shared
and your life will have meaning
and your heart will have peace."

- Kent Nerburn

"A man ought to carry himself in the world
as an orange tree would if it could
walk up and down in the garden,
swinging perfume from every little censer
it holds up to the air."

he said, 'I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never live in darkness,
but will have the light of life.'"

supreme good...

supreme good

"[Whilst] everything around me
is ever changing, ever dying,
there is underlying all that change
a living power that is changeless,
that holds all together, that creates,
dissolves and recreates.
That informing power or spirit is God...
And is this power benevolent or malevolent?
I see it as purely benevolent.
For I can see that
in the midst of death, life persists,
in the midst of untruth, truth persists,
in the midst of darkness, light persists.
Hence I gather that God is
Life, Truth, Light. He is Love.
He is the supreme Good."

personal retreat

Feeling a bit out of focus?
Need a rest?

"We need silence to be alone with God,
to speak to him, to listen to him,
to ponder his words deep in our hearts.
We need to be alone with God in silence
to be renewed and transformed.
Silence gives us a new outlook on life.
In it we are filled with the energy of God himself
that makes us do all things with joy."

- Mother Teresa

"One of the main reasons
that we lose our enthusiasm in life
is because we become ungrateful ...
we let what was once a miracle
become common to us.
We get so accustomed to his goodness
it becomes a routine ..."

never lose their beauty...

never lose their beauty

Old age is never a reason
to be rude...
use your wisdom
to share kindness
and encouragement.

"Some people, no matter how old they get,
never lose their beauty —
they merely move it from their faces
into their hearts."

- Martin Buxbaum

Once more with harvest song and shout
Is nature's boldest triumph told."

I love to get up before dawn,

Bond of Love

Bond of Love

"We are one in the bond of love;
We are one in the bond of love.
We have joined our spirits with the Spirit of God;
We are one in the bond of love.

Let us sing now, ev'ry one;
Let us feel His love begun.
Let us join our hands, that the world will know;
We are one in the bond of love."

"There are joys which long to be ours.
God sends ten thousands truths,
which come about us like birds seeking inlet;
but we are shut up to them,
and so they bring us nothing,
but sit and sing awhile upon the roof,
and then fly away."

one needs the light of wisdom

Virtual Exhibition...

Virtual exhibit
(Second Life snapshot)

In the village near my virtual cottage
in Second Life the owners honored
a request I made for a
virtual coffee house/art gallery.
Then they honored me further
by exhibiting some of my real life
photographs in the gallery.

"I wasn't aware that the purpose
of the show was to make friends.
I'm not sure that any artist
sets out to do that."

- Paul Brandford
