do have in common an immense belief
in themselves and in their mission.
They also have great determination
as well as an ability to work hard.
At the crucial moment of decision,
they draw on their accumulated wisdom.
Above all, they have integrity."

inner truth...

visiting deer

Every evening this summer,
we have had groups of deer
visit our backyard to feed and drink.
They eat birdseed I put out
and then have a drink
from our birdbath.
Here is a group of four
that visited last evening...
three doe and a fawn,
still with spots.
Sometimes we have a young buck
that is in one of the groups.
This was a photo snapped
with my iPad through our
screened in porch.

"To any artist, worthy of the name,
all in nature is beautiful, because his eyes,
fearlessly accepting all exterior truth,
read there, as in an open book,
all the inner truth."

- Auguste Rodin

diner menu

I love eating at a friendly,
mom/pop diner...
brings back memories.

"A poet could write volumes about diners,
because they're so beautiful.
They're brightly lit, with chrome and booths
and Naugahyde and great waitresses.
Now, it might not be so great
in the health department,
but I think diner food
is really worth experiencing periodically."

Cochin Chickens

These were given to my daughter
and she took care of them while they were peeps.
Later she gave them to friends from our church.
There they have a very nice coop
and plenty of room.
The one on the left is a rooster
and his name is Stormy.
The other is a hen and her name is
Henny Penny.
Don't they make a handsome couple?

"The key to everything is patience.
You get the chicken by hatching the egg,
not by smashing it."

rhubarb pie

The other day, my daughter and I
made this masterpiece.
You know how hard it is to
stay on a diet this time of year.
It takes commitment.

make your emotions subordinate
to your commitments."

- Brian Koslow

I'll exercise longer tomorrow
to make up for it.

A trinity of mushrooms...

mushroom trinity

Years ago, while participating
in a fun photo workshop,
we were required to pick a color
and then concentrate on
taking images with predominately
that particular color...
I chose yellow.
For weeks after the project,
I would be drawn to anything
that was yellow.
Move forward several years.
I took a photo of three
bloodroot blossoms
and because of the blood colored
sap in the plant's root,
I thought of the Trinity...
Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Now I notice things of three.

These three mushrooms,
all unique, but connected
together as one, led me to call this...
A Trinity of Mushrooms.
