"If we were logical,
the future would be bleak, indeed.
But we are more than logical.
We are human beings, and we have faith,
and we have hope, and we can work."

gift from above...

gift from above

There are a lot
of extremely gifted individuals...
artists, musicians, writers, photographers, etc.
(much more talented
than I am or ever will be).
But so many seem not to know,
or perhaps they just forgot,
from who those gifts came.

"Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father
of the heavenly lights,
who does not change
like shifting shadows."

- James 1:17 NIV

I believe he'll be there."

“Dogs are our link to paradise.
They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent.
To sit with a dog on a hillside
on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden,
where doing nothing was not boring...
it was peace.”

art appreciation...

me at the gallery

My son, Chris, was not able
to attend the opening reception
at the “Art and Science of Color” exhibit
at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg, PA.
At his request, we went to see the exhibit
a couple of days ago.
This is a photo he took of me
with my two photographs there.

It is a totally different experience
seeing any art first hand
rather than online or in a book
It is the only way to
fully appreciate it...
the only way to really experience it.

how much of artful living is living art,
the whole poignancy of the drama

for the little and the great,

Today is a good day...

Today is a good day
to have a good day.

"Today is a good day to have a good day
One more opportunity was given, the sunlight stroke your face
Appreciate; play with life as if you were to play with clay

There’s love in people as there’s water in a bay
A good laugh, a wise advice, and one thousand more verbs
Today is a good day to have a good day

One alphabet, twenty-seven letters, infinitive wise phrases to say
Words, sentences, more powerful than a nuclear weapon
Appreciate; play with life as if you were to play with clay

When days get dark and cold, we pray
Hopefully next day will be a new beginning
Today is a good day to have a good day

Gentle gestures to needed people must spread like a spray
To the train of happiness will lead
Appreciate; play with life as if you were to play with clay.

And you my friend, who is in agony pain
Your future depend on yourself
Today is a good day to have a good day
Appreciate; play with life as if you were to play with clay."

"The last day you have on earth,

- Author Unknown

"Our deepest fear is not
that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are
powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There's nothing enlightened about
shrinking so that other people
won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We are born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."

- Marianne Williamson

growth in spirit and photography...

growth in
spirit and photography

"And if you can find out something
about the laws of your own growth and vision
as well as those of photography
you may be able to relate the two,
create an object that has a life of its own,
which transcends craftsmanship.
That is a long road,
and because it must be your own road
nobody can teach it to you or find it for you.
There are no shortcuts, no rules."

- Paul Strand

seeds of yesterday...

pumpkin blossom

This plant is growing through the mulch
in front of our house.
I remember allowing
some small decorative pumpkins
to decompose there last fall.

The seeds you unknowingly plant
may blossom and produce
some spectacular fruit.
Be careful (through your
day to day actions)
that you plant seeds of
virtue and faith.

"All the flowers of tomorrow
are in the seeds of yesterday"

- proverb
