Growing together in the Spirit of Jesus Christ...

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:25 NIV

He's my brother...

He's my brother

"If I'm laden at all
I'm laden with sadness
That everyone's heart
Isn't filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We'll get there

For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain't heavy, he's my brother."

Sal

Sal
A bit scary... at first...
Sal is a regular at the Allen Theatre
and MJ's Coffee House.
She loves to laugh.

"What monstrous absurdities and paradoxes
have resisted whole batteries
of serious arguments,
and then crumbled swiftly into dust

before the ringing death-knell of a laugh!"
- Agnes Repplier

Currently running through
March 16, 2014
at the
Suzanne H. Arnold Gallery
in Annville, PA.

It is well worth the time
to see the framed exhibition prints
of excellent photography...
the experience is completely different
than viewing a digital image on the computer
or an image in a book.

Visit an exhibition on display in your area
and take the time to really see.

"I cling to the cross and everything it means
I know it's the only hope there is for saving me
For without Your great mercy
I would be forever lost
With a thankful heart I come
And cling to the cross."

serendipity...

serendipity

On a blind date, it is necessary
to develop a conversation
by breaking the ice.
I am a firm believer
in blind dates
that are orchestrated by God.

"Whether we name divine presence
synchronicity, serendipity,
or graced moment matters little.
What matters is the reality
that our hearts have been understood."

"Reading about nature is fine,
but if a person walks in the woods
and listens carefully,
he can learn more than what is in books,
for they speak with the voice of God."

coffee house...

coffee house

Except for being a part
of a group exhibit many years ago,
this was the scene of my first solo exhibit...
MJ's and the Allen Theatre in Annville, PA.

Still a favorite place to have coffee
and a sandwich with my wife.
Taken on Valentine's day of this year,
we had a very special day.

Take time to share special moments
with your own special people.

God's blessings on all of you.

"I chose nature photography
as a way of capturing and sharing
the beauty, power, and fragility
of wildplaces and the life
that inhabits them,

in the man-made chaos
may open their eyes
to the real world."

"Never cease loving a person,
and never give up hope for him,
for even the prodigal son who had fallen most low,
could still be saved;
the bitterest enemy and also he who was your friend
could again be your friend;
love that has grown cold can kindle."

Don't read it because I don't understand it?
No excuses... there are plenty of
good, helpful study guides
to help us wayward sheep.
We all need the Good Shepherd.

Read His Word... read the Bible.

Larry the monk...

Larry the monk

In another time, perhaps,
I could have been a monk.
The simplicity, the solitude,
the study, the sanctity of spirit with God.

Do you think I would be allowed
a camera and a computer?
Hmmm, perhaps not.

"Think often on God, by day, by night,
in your business and even in your diversions.
He is always near you and with you;
leave him not alone."

We have always been in love.
That hasn't changed with years...
unless, of course, it is stronger

clad in radiance...

more snow

It appears that we are having
a respectable winter this year.
Now I know many do not like the snow,
and I understand the problems it can cause.
Still I love the beauty of snow
and there is nothing quite like walking
in the forest while it is snowing...
so quiet and peaceful.

"There is nothing in the world more beautiful
than the forest clothed to its very hollows in snow.
It is the still ecstasy of nature, wherein every spray,
every blade of grass, every spire of reed,
every intricacy of twig, is clad with radiance."

- William Sharp

ask a question...

ask a question

Many photographs make a statement.

And I even include a note or quote
which helps explain what I previsualized
before I snapped the shutter.

But perhaps, more importantly,
it is what the viewer sees
when looking at the photograph.

"Too many photos make a statement,
not enough ask a question."

- Joseph Holmes

regret...

regret

Sometimes the fruit we wish to produce
become less than desirable.
Things we should have done...
things we shouldn't have done,
leave us regretting previous choices.

"Regrets... are the natural property
of grey hairs; and I enjoy,
in common with all other men,
at least my share of such inheritance."

- Charles Dickens
(“Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit”)

Regret can ruin our present joy
and our future hope, however,
deep regret can lead to a stronger faith,
if we put them behind us.

"I do not consider, brethren,
that I have captured and made it my own [yet];
but one thing I do [it is my one aspiration]:
forgetting what lies behind
and straining forward to what lies ahead,
I press on toward the goal to win
the [supreme and heavenly] prize
to which God in Christ Jesus
is calling us upward."

- Philippians 3:13-14 AMP

special...

special

An old friend of mine
bought one of my prints.
It is always particularly satisfying
when a special friend
likes one of my special images.

The money from this sale,
as with all of my images,
will be donated to a special charity.

as another special gift
from your Creator."

It is wonderful to have such

innermost soul...

innermost soul

"We must become so alone, so utterly alone,
that we withdraw into our innermost self.
It is a way of bitter suffering.
But then our solitude is overcome, we are no longer alone,
for we find that our innermost self is the spirit,
that it is God, the indivisible.
And suddenly we find ourselves in the midst of the world,
yet undisturbed by its multiplicity,
for our innermost soul we know ourselves
to be one with all being."

- Hermann Hesse

a satisfaction of spirit...

a satisfaction of spirit

"I believe that we learn by practice.
Whether it means to learn to dance
by practicing dancing
or to learn to live by practicing living,
the principles are the same.
In each, it is the performance
of a dedicated precise set of acts,
physical or intellectual,
from which comes shape of achievement,
a sense of one's being,
a satisfaction of spirit."

- Martha Graham
