Growing together in the Spirit of Jesus Christ...

make me white as snow...

make me white as snow

Putting on a fresh coat of paint
works well for things like this chair...
but we cannot get rid of our sin
by sanding them away and putting on
the purest white paint we can find.

"What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus."

"That's what good art should do...
leave one feeling led to Jesus.
After all, God created the artist
and gave him the gift,
and if he uses his gift to inspire,
it should reflect his Creator..."

friendless?

friendless?

My wife found this book on a bargain table
at a local bookstore.

She loved it and highly recommends it...
a good summer read on a hot day
with a cool glass of lemonade or iced tea.

companionship of good books."

Do You See What I See?

Do You See What I See?

Thursday, July 11th marked the end
of my exhibit at St Thomas Roasters
in Linglestown, Pennsylvania.

I have no idea who the lovely lady
is in my photograph but she graciously
allowed me to include her in the capture
.

Her presence there enhanced
an otherwise blah view
of a wall with photos.

"To me, photography is
an art of observation.
It's about finding something interesting
in an ordinary place...
I've found it has little to do
with the things you see
and everything to do
with the way you see them."

Kokomo

Coming home from a day out,
one or more of our cats
greet us through the bay window
adjacent to our front door.

They look out as to say,
where have you been all this time?

"If you examined a hundred people
who had lost their faith in Christianity,
I wonder how many of them would turn out
to have reasoned out of it by honest argument?
Do not most people simply drift away?"

"Your life is something opaque, not transparent,
as long as you look at it in an ordinary human way.
But if you hold it up against the light of God's goodness,
it shines and turns transparent, radiant and bright.
And then you ask yourself in amazement:

Is this really my own life I see before me?"

paying tribute

"A person will worship something,
have no doubt about that.
We may think our tribute is paid
in secret in the dark recesses of our hearts,
but it will out.
That which dominates our imaginations
and our thoughts will determine our lives,
and our character.
Therefore, it behooves us
to be careful what we worship,
for what we are worshipping
we are becoming."

free indeed...

free indeed

There is another kind of freedom...
one that brings the Lord's peace
and joy within.
This is freedom from the bondage of sin.

Now that is freedom.

For if the guilt of sin be so great
that nothing can satisfy it
but the blood of Jesus;
and the filth of sin be so great
that nothing can fetch out the stain thereof
but the blood of Jesus,
how great, how heinous,
how sinful must the evil of sin be!”

- William Bridge

Either sin is with you,
lying on your shoulders,
or it is lying on Christ,
the Lamb of God.
Now if it is lying on your back,
you are lost;
but if it is resting on Christ,
you are free, and you will be saved.”

- Martin Luther

Dream When You're Feeling Blue

Dream When You're Feeling Blue

Make time for prayer and reflection;
try to understand your value as a man on earth
but see, too, your proper place in the scheme of things.
It may sound funny to say this,
but I have come to see that
we are all far more important
and less important than we think.”
