perseverance...

perseverance

I have been a photo bug since I was 14.
This photo, taken on my 36th birthday
(a bit over 31 years ago)
shows that photography has been a hobby
throughout my life.
Now I am not a very good photographer...
but I enjoy it and will continue to learn,
and hopefully improve.
Perseverance is important in the pursuit
of any worthwhile goal.
And God will bless any goal
that follows His will...
it just may not be what you expected...
but it will always be for the best.

direct thy paths...

direct thy paths

Today (2/23) is the anniversary of our first date.
This photo was taken Christmas of that same year... 1968.

Prior to our first date (a blind date)...
arranged by good Christian friends...
prayers were being said that we would find
our lifelong mate or, if not meant to be,
remain single for the rest of our life.

Neither of us knew about the prayers
of the other but, of course, God knew.

The Bible is full of the consequences/blessings
of asking for God's guidance prior to any major decision.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord
with all your heart and mind
and do not rely on
your own insight or understanding.
In all your ways know, recognize,
and acknowledge Him,
and He will direct
and make straight and plain your paths.”

- Proverbs 3:5,6 AMP

Sea of Galilee...

Paul on the Sea of Galilee
(recent trip to Israel)

The Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea
are made of the same water.
It flows down, clean and cool,
from the heights of Herman
and the roots of the cedars of Lebanon.
The Sea of Galilee makes beauty of it,
the Sea of Galilee has an outlet.
It gets to give.
It gathers in its riches that it may
pour them out again to fertilize the Jordan plain.
But the Dead Sea with the same water makes horror.
For the Dead Sea has no outlet.
It gets to keep.”

Then Jesus came from Galilee
to the Jordan to be baptized by John.
As soon as Jesus was baptized,
he went up out of the water.
At that moment heaven was opened,
and he saw the Spirit of God
descending like a dove and lighting on him.
And a voice from heaven said,
'This is my Son, whom I love;
with him I am well pleased.'”

The Love of God...

(recent trip to Israel)

When hoary time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.”

listening to the Master...

listening to the Master

I attended a photo workshop
with Carl Socolow yesterday.
Here is Carl demonstrating something
on the camera while four others listen.

We too must listen to the great Master...
the God and Father of all.
Only then will we become all that we can.

O Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
above the heavens.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?”

good medicine...

Kokomo just relaxing

While my wife was at the sink,
Kokomo snuck in the bathroom
and made himself comfortable
on the clean towels.

Actually, it had its good side...
both of us were feeling a bit under the weather,
but when we spied this...
well, we couldn't help
but laugh.

Laughter is good medicine.

A good, real, unrestrained, hearty laugh
is a sort of glorified internal massage,
performed rapidly and automatically.
It manipulates and revitalizes corners
and unexplored crannies of the system
that are unresponsive
to most other exercise methods.”

Clouds come floating into my life,
no longer to carry rain or usher storm,
but to add color to my sunset sky.”

- Rabindranath Tagore
Satan is ever seeking to inject
that poison into our hearts
to distrust God's goodness -
especially in connection with his commandments.
That is what really lies behind all evil,
lusting and disobedience.
A discontent with our position and portion,
a craving from something
which God has wisely held from us.
Reject any suggestion that God
is unduly severe with you.
Resist with the utmost abhorrence
anything that causes you to doubt
God's love and his lovingkindness toward you.
Allow nothing to make you question
the Father's love for his child.”

Time crumbles things;
everything grows old
under the power of Time
and is forgotten

- Aristotle

Look carefully then how you walk!
Live purposefully and worthily and accurately,
not as the unwise and witless,
but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),
Making the very most of the time
[buying up each opportunity],
because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be vague
and thoughtless and foolish,
but understanding and firmly grasping
what the will of the Lord is.”

mansion...

mansion

This is a screenshot from Bethesda's
newest DLC for the game Skyrim.

The DLC called Hearthfire
allows you to build your own home
from a list of possible options.
This one is called Lakeview Manor.

I've always wanted to have a cabin
in the woods near a lake.
This virtual one here is more of a lodge/mansion.
When we get to our “home” in Heaven,
the Lord will have for us a mansion
beyond description.

Even so, with everything
we will have in Heaven,
nothing will be as fantastic
as being in the presence of our
great and awesome God,
and seeing His face in all His glory
for all of eternity.
