Growing together in the Spirit of Jesus Christ...

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:25 NIV

June 26, 2011 (too busy?)

too busy?

Looking forward to seeing a ball game,
watch a movie, play or party?

How about too busy with work,
attending meetings, working on a hobby?

I am concerned with the number of people
(including Christians)
that spend little time with our Lord, the Creator of all,
who loves and cares for us so much.

He is with us always and the only reason
that we appear to never hear from Him
is because we do not seek time with Him.
He is not going to force you.
That is not the way of love.
You must desire to be in His presence,
you must grow to love Him
with all your heart, your mind, your soul,
and in all your strength.

But the vast majority
spend little time seeking Him
and trying to get to know Him.

I honestly think many are scared
of developing a relationship with Him.
”What if He requires something of me?”
”I don’t want to give up control of my life.”

Look what happened to Adam and Eve.
They wanted more control and did not heed
the Lord’s command.

The Lord wants the best for us…
He wants to be able to reward us with many crowns
in an eternal life with Him. Think of your future
life with Him. Don’t just be satisfied
with getting into heaven (wonderful as that will be).
He desires so much more for us.
And He knows what is really in our heart.

“The weight of so many responsibilities and distractions
- even the worthwhile ones -
has a crushing effect on a person's relationship with Christ.
It ruins our taste for spiritual things.
It suppresses our exuberance for spiritual service.
It suffocates our passion for pursuing Christ
and the intimate relationship He offers.
It all grinds away at our soul.
Eventually, following Jesus starts to lose its luster.
The blessings and joys of walking with Him
are crowded out by myriad tiny details of life.”
- John MacArthur

“You wake up one day to realize
that you are busier than you've ever been,
but no deeper in the things of God
than you were years ago.”
