To feel the spirit's glad release?
To pass from pain to perfect peace.
The strife and strain of life to cease?
Afraid – of that?"

When a child I used to love crunching autumn leaves with my feet, joyfully laughing in the rays of late sun. Crunch… crunch… crunch…
Now seventy years later, I observe them, wondering at the wonderful colouring of pinks, reds, browns, yellows in many shades and textures. Then, much later, finding their skeletons and wondering at the delicacy of their designs. Come the spring and buds burst forth fresh green foliage — and still I gaze in wonder — and in joy!
