These are some of the leaves
that fell from my dead and dying
sugar maple tree.
Searching the yard under the tree
I found this grouping of dead leaves,
grass, and wood sorrel.
I liked the way the sorrel
continues to thrive and grow
among the fallen, dead leaves
of the tree.
Life is a continuing journey of the spirit
and does not end with physical death.

but rather the spirit with which
one undertakes and continues the journey.”
