Edgar Allen Poe’s character in ‘The Raven’
is despondent over a lost love, Lenore.
The raven’s presence and its quote ‘nevermore’,
was allowed to feed his depression until
he gives up all hope.
Such is one without faith and
the salvation of Jesus Christ.
Through the presence of the Holy Spirit
we realize that instead of
nevermore (without the presence of God)
it is evermore (peace and joy with Him)
and nevermore to sorrow and depression.
“Who among you fears the Lord
and obeys the word of his servant?
Let him who walks in the dark,
who has no light,
trust in the name of the Lord
and rely on his God.”
- Isaiah 50:10 NIV
“…and the ransomed of the Lord will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.”
- Isaiah 35:10 NIV
“For the Son of Man came to seek
and to save what was lost."
- Luke 19:10 NIV
