holding onto the old ways

Even through the storms of life

many still hold onto their secular ways

although they are dead and lifeless in spirit.

The only way to find peace and joy

is to let go of that old life

so that we may be born anew.

We cannot “die to self”…

by that I mean we cannot do it

by our self.

Only by accepting Jesus Christ

as your Savior and acknowledge

that He died for your sins

and was resurrected from the dead

can we be dead to self.

“For we know that our old self

was crucified with him

so that the body of sin

might be done away with,

that we should no longer be slaves to sin—

because anyone who has died

has been freed from sin.”
