When the sky gets dark, and the storm comes with its rain
the tree branch becomes so burdened and heavy laden
with water that it bends down to the ground.
But when the sun comes out,
as it always does,
the water evaporates and the branch once more
reaches up toward the light.
"Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it,
casts the shadow of our burden behind us."
- Samuel Smiles
"A sacred burden is this life ye bear:
Look on it, lift it, bear it solemnly,
Stand up and walk beneath it steadfastly.
Fail not for sorrow, falter not for sin,
But onward, upward, till the goal ye win."
- Frances Anne Kemble
"Worry, doubt, fear and despair are the enemies
which slowly bring us down to the ground..."
- Douglas MacArthur
"Do not anticipate trouble
or worry about what may never happen.
Keep in the [Son]light."
- Benjamin Franklin
"Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer
is too small to be made into a burden."
- Corrie ten Boom
