This pure white flower has a rhizome (underground stem)
that contains a reddish orange sap.
If you break open the rhizome (mistakenly called a root)
a blood like fluid oozes out... hence the name bloodroot.
The flowers appear over clasping (enveloping) leaves while blooming.
It is the life giving blood of Jesus
and His enveloping presence
that produces a faith in us
that is pure and radiantly white.
The center of that faith shines like the Son.
"Just as the body cannot exist without blood,
so the soul needs the matchless and
pure strength of faith."
- Mahatma Gandhi
"Faith is the strength
by which a shattered world
shall emerge into the light."
- Helen Keller
"In him we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins,
in accordance with the riches of God's grace
that he lavished on us
with all wisdom and understanding."
- Ephesians 1:7,8 NIV
